Delete your Tugethr account
Last updated: 12 September 2026
You can delete your Tugethr account yourself, from inside the app or from the website. You do not need to ask us, and you do not need a reason. This page sets out the three ways to do it, what is erased, what survives and for how long.
If you only want a break, deactivate instead. Deactivating hides your profile, matches and crews from everyone and deletes nothing. Signing in again brings the account back exactly as it was. Settings → Deactivate account.
1. Delete from inside the app
This is the route we recommend, because it is the only one you can undo.
- Open the Tugethr app and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Account section, below Sign out.
- Tap Delete account and confirm twice.
You are signed out at once and your profile disappears from Discover, matches and crews immediately. Your data is then held for 30 days and permanently erased after that. Signing in again during those 30 days cancels the deletion and restores the account. A job runs every hour, so the erasure happens close to the moment the window elapses.
2. Delete from the website
- Sign in at tugethr.com and open Settings.
- Under Delete account, type DELETE to confirm.
The website route is immediate and has no grace period. The purge runs the moment you confirm, and there is nothing to sign back into afterwards. Use the app if you want the 30-day safety net.
3. Ask us to delete it, if you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to your phone number or email address and cannot sign in, email support@tugethr.com from any address, with the subject "Account deletion request", and tell us the mobile number or email address the account was registered with.
- We acknowledge the request within 24 hours.
- We will ask you for something that shows the account is yours before we act, because a deletion request is also the easiest way to attack someone else's account.
- Once we are satisfied it is your account, the deletion is completed within 15 days, and we confirm by email when it is done.
4. What is deleted
When the deletion runs — immediately on the website, or after the 30-day window from the app — the following is erased permanently and cannot be recovered by you or by us:
- your profile photographs, your avatar and the image files behind them;
- your verification selfie and any identity document you submitted, and their files;
- your stored location, in both the main database and the geospatial index;
- your profile prompts, sports, skill levels, weekly availability and badges;
- your push notification tokens and linked-device records;
- your sign-in identifiers, so the number or email stops resolving to an account;
- the people you passed on in Discover, and the "found by handle" records in both directions;
- your chat account identity key and device keys — the keys that unlock chat history, so the history becomes unreadable even where ciphertext survives elsewhere;
- your encrypted chat backup and any pending device-sync data;
- the messages you sent, your conversation memberships and your per-chat settings;
- your call records, including the ones where you were called.
5. What is anonymised, and what we keep
| What | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| Your account record | Email, phone, username, password hash, name, bio, date of birth, gender, addresses and device identifiers are erased, and the row is renamed "Deleted User" and marked deleted. The empty row stays so that payment and moderation references do not break. |
| Payment, subscription and booking records | Kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, which for our books is at least six years from the end of the financial year the payment falls in. They hold the amount, the gateway references and the confirmation record Razorpay sends us — never your card number, UPI PIN or net-banking password, which never reach our servers at all. |
| Reports and moderation decisions | Reports you filed and reports filed about you are kept, including any message copy attached as evidence, so that a decision about another user's safety survives the reported account being deleted. |
| Sign-in and administrator logs | Kept for security and audit. They include IP addresses. |
| A hashed record that the account existed | We keep one row holding an HMAC-SHA256 digest of the phone number and email, the deletion date, and whether the account was suspended when it was deleted. It is a one-way digest under a server-side secret, so it cannot be turned back into your number, and it exists so that a banned user cannot delete and sign up again with a clean record. |
| Messages other people sent you | Kept. They are also part of the other participant's history, and deleting their copy is not ours to do on your behalf. |
| Things you posted into shared spaces | Match listings you organised and messages in group conversations may remain visible to the other people who were there, attributed to a deleted user. |
An active paid plan ends when you delete and is not refunded. If you want the unused part of a paid term back, cancel the plan in the app before you delete the account — cancelling refunds the unused portion pro rata, deleting does not.
6. How long it takes
| Route | When your data is gone |
|---|---|
| In the app | Access ends immediately; data is erased 30 days later, reversible until then. |
| On the website | Immediately, with no grace period. |
| By email | Acknowledged within 24 hours, completed within 15 days of us verifying the account is yours. |
Backups and logs are erased on their own cycle rather than instantly. Nothing in them is used to rebuild a deleted account.
7. Questions, or something left behind
If you want us to confirm what remains after your deletion, or to remove something specific, write to our Grievance Officer, Rahul Baghel, at grievance@tugethr.com or support@tugethr.com, or by post to B-59A, Rajat Vihar, Sector 62, Noida, Uttar Pradesh 201309, India. We acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days.
